As you’ll be aware, a price war has broken out between Coles and Woolworths, each luring us into their supermarkets with cut-price milk. They’ve taken a margin hit on a popular commodity, presumably to get us to shop more often — our weekly grocery spend has remained fairly static over the last few years.
It’s one of many changes in the grocery space that I discuss with Martin Kneebone from food industry consulting firm Freshlogic. We also discuss:
- How the supermarkets are coping with food inflation
- Fresh food and supermarkets — are they selling more?
- Are supermarkets responding to our diet needs. Or just making us fatter?
- What impact is the Internet having on the industry?
