Forward This On, It’s Awesome!

LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE OF BTALK

What makes a blog entry popular? The key is to have as many people refer it on as possible, whether by email, twitter or through links on social media. So what do you have to write to encourage people to tell others that they really have to read it?

Katherine Milkman and Jonah Berger studied stories from The New York Times to see which ones were featured on the site’s “most e-mailed” list. They found a strong correlation between referrals and stories that were considered “awe-inspiring”.

Katherine is an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. On today’s BTalk she explains what she means by awe inspiring and gives me some other hints to ensure that every post from me from now on is a big winner. There’s only one downside — I might have to undergo a sex change operation and that sounds painful.
