There was a recent legal case where an advertising agency executive who was made redundant, successfully showed that his former employer had mislead him during the recruitment process about the financial position of the company.
The court ruled in favour of the executive who was paid $245,000 (plus interest) in damages.
It works both ways, of course. It is not uncommon for an applicant to enhance a resume to the point of fiction. Does that mean, when the lies are exposed, the employee can be dismissed irrespective of the terms of their contract?
