It’s interesting how, despite the technology to hold online meetings, we still like to travel. The meeting industry hasn’t exactly been devastated by the rise of the Internet — in fact, there seems to be more big conventions than ever.
It’s not surprising. It’s a major industry. According to government statistics business events create $8.4 billion for the Aussie economy.
Business futurist Morris Miselowski says those big meetings will always be around, but we’ll also see the rise of many more smaller events. These will be short-term impromptu events, where like-minded people get together to fix an issue or share some thoughts.
It looks like an opportunity for an entrepreneur — facilitating small, nimble events.
Meanwhile, big events will incorporate more and more technology, to bring greater audience engagement.
