When I needed a design for my new self-published novel I turned to an Aussie design site to crowdsource the work.
In this edition of BTalk I go through my experience with Jason Sew Hoy, General Manager of the site 99designs.com.au. I found it to be a great experience. I was surprised by the quality of the designs and how fast the whole process was.
My only concerns were around issues of copyright (which we discuss) and the sense of guilt that the whole process was taking work away from local design agencies.
That said, money talks, and good work for a fraction of the price is an outcome that is difficult to beat — and certainly overcame any predilection to “buy-Australian”. And 99designs is an Australian site, so at least some of my money stays in the country!
