The House of Lords has been criticised for coming back to the Withdrawal Bill with 15 amendments. But doesn’t that show that the Lords have been going through the detail with a fine tooth comb? Doesn’t it indicate that they have the good of the country at their heart? Whether you agree or disagree with them, you’d have to admit they are dedicated. They haven’t just shown up and claimed their travel allowance, then gone home. Whjat is sad is the amountof time allowed in the Commons to consider these amendments. As I discussed on the radio, parliament seemed to have far bigger issues to consider than Brexit – like the age of bus tyres.
