Delays, good and bad

There’s still no sign of an end to the US China trade dispute as the end of the cease-fire period draws closer. There’s no end in sight for the US government shutdown either, yet, as Phil Dobbie discusses with NAB’s Rodrigo Catril, it doesn’t seem to be hurting the economy as much as you might expect. Mind you, it’s getting harder to tell as the publication of some data is being delayed. Over the Atlantic, though, a delay is seen as a good thing. The pound has risen on the prospect that Brexit won’t happen at the end of March, if ever.
