Britain’s battle for full fibre broadband

Britain is fortunate in having fast broadband available to 95 percent of the population, thanks to the extensive reach of Open Reach’s FTTC network. But that’s not true fibre broadband. In this first edition of the Total Telecoms Podcast Phil Dobbie explores how, until now, the large-scale expansion of full fibre networks has been delayed as the BT Group, understandably, squeezes what they can from their broadband investment. Now the tables have turned, with City Fibre amongst the players now building full fibre networks across the country. But isn’t there a danger of overbuild, with multiple providers destroying the viability of each other’s business case?

On the podcast you’ll hear from:
– Katie Milligan, MD Customer, Commercial and Propositions at Open Reach
– Telecoms analyst Benoit Felten from Diffraction Analysis
– Mark Collins, CityFibre’s Director of Strategy and Public Affairs
