Mum & Alan's Visit In Pictures

Mum and my brother Alan were over for a couple of weeks this month. Alan has a fancy new digital SLR camera, so he was able to get some great shots of the family - including an absolutely stunning picture of Amelia.
Yesterday Hugo and I headed into town on the train for the day, so Dana could spend some time with Amelia and grab some time to herself. When do I get time to myself??
A fun day as always - as you'll see from the video Hugo looked transfixed by the monorail, but less so with the sharks. He had more fun running around the place and causing a comotion, then even more fun eating ice cream at the end.
Look out for his trepidation at walking on the glass over the water - that stopped him in his tracks!

Is it my imagination or does it always rain over the October long weekend. And don't we always think summer is here in September, only to deal with artic winds just a few weeks later.
So, it was a long weekend spent inside - around the house and, on Monday, off to the Australian museum where there's a good kids play area.
This is what Sydney woke to this morning. We’re in Wahroonga on the northern edge of the city, but the dust is everywhere apparently. Strong winds in the early hours of this morning have swept in a thick blanket of choking dust. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I went out for just a few minutes to shoot these pictures and my eyes are still itching half an hour later. It’s eery. And to think I was going to get up early and go for a run this morning!
A great weekend. Dana's mum and dad looked after the kids on Saturday. I started the day with a Kahuna massage in Wahroonga, then Dana and I went for fish and chips on Manly wharf. It was a beautiful sunny day. We also went up to North Head to remind ourselves of the spectacular views and what an incredible city we live in. Dana bought some cute clothes for the kids, including a great warm jacket for Amelia.
On Sunday Hugo and I had one of our regular adventures. Armed with a "funday" family pass we caught the train to the airport (swine flu central) and watched the planes out on the observation deck. Hugo seemed more interested in the trucks carrying the food and baggage. Then we had lunch in Kirribilli with John "life's a holiday" Filmer, who is about to jet off to Noumea, before walking down to Lunar Park.
Hugo loves it there, although he got a bit dizzy on the teacup ride you see in the photo below. By chance David Campbell was there with his daughter Alexis. Fun times!
